As the regulatory authority for Rwanda’s financial sector, BNR requires a “Zero-Failure” operational environment. Cyusa Technology Africa was commissioned to implement a multi-disciplinary infrastructure project designed to secure the physical perimeter, maintain mission-critical cooling, and provide advanced monitoring for the bank’s sovereign data assets.
Perimeter & Access Intelligence (Gate Barriers)
We fortified the bank’s primary entry points with high-speed, heavy-duty Automated Gate Barrier Systems.
High-Frequency Throughput: Designed for constant use, these barriers integrate seamlessly with the bank’s existing RFID and biometric access control, ensuring that only authorized personnel and verified vehicles enter the high-security zone.
Anti-Passback & Security Interlocking: Engineered to prevent unauthorized tailgating, providing the first line of defense in a layered security strategy.
II. Precision Environmental Control (Air Conditioning)
Data integrity depends on stable thermal environments.
We designed and installed industrial-grade HVAC and Precision Cooling systems.
Redundant Cooling Architecture: Implemented N+1 redundancy to ensure that if one unit requires maintenance, the backup immediately compensates, preventing any thermal spikes in sensitive areas.
Energy Efficiency: Utilized inverter-based technology to reduce the bank’s carbon footprint while maintaining 24/7 climate stability for both staff and hardware.
III. Sovereign Data Protection (Fire Suppression & Monitoring)
The Central Bank’s Data Center is the “Brain” of the financial system. Standard fire protection is insufficient here.
Gaseous Fire Suppression (Clean Agent): We deployed FM-200 / Novec 1230 systems. These gas-based solutions extinguish fires by removing heat at the molecular level without leaving any residue or damaging delicate circuitry—essential for 100% uptime.
Real-Time Data Center Monitoring: We installed a centralized Environmental Monitoring System (EMS). This platform provides real-time alerts for temperature fluctuations, humidity levels, water leakage, and smoke detection, allowing the IT team to respond to threats before they become disasters.

Our integrated approach at BNR serves as a benchmark for Critical Infrastructure Security in Rwanda. By combining physical barriers with sophisticated internal climate and safety controls, Cyusa Technology Africa ensures the National Bank remains resilient against both physical and environmental threats.
